No creative ultimatums

I once saved as my desktop image some words:

If you do not write every day, you are not a writer.

That’s terrible thinking.

Yes, consistency works a quiet magic. But that sentence is too much pressure to load onto every fresh sunrise.

If you insist to yourself that you will write every day this week, this month, this year, what happens if you miss a day? If you are no longer a writer today, then what will you be tomorrow?
